    Towards a Brighter Future

We need our energy from sustainable sources and move to renewable. We met in Taos to discuss energy options for the High Desert.

  • Our neighbors in New Mexico - Taos - are ahead of the game.

  • We Even Have Energy Alternatives Beyond Solar

Wind, geothermal, hydro, nuclear, but what works in NNM and Los Alamos? Los Alamos County asked Siemens/Pace Global to do a study.

  • An Opportunity for Los Alamos

At next Wednesday’s Board of Public Utilities meeting, the Board will vote on a contract for 15 MW of renewable, firm energy from NM solar and wind farms, for a mere $36.67/MWh (much cheaper than what we’re paying now, and what will probably be charged by the CFPP.) This would go a long way towards our carbon neutrality goal. You can read more about it here: http://losalamos.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx…

  • The Issues

There are many things to consider

    A Renewable Future

What is the Optimal Energy Source For Us?

Primary energy sources take many forms, including nuclear energy, fossil energy -- like oil, coal and natural gas -- and renewable sources like wind, solar, geothermal and hydropower. What energy source makes the most sense for Northern New Mexico?

    We Have the Technology

    And the Know How

Dr Steve Tobin of Los Alamos National Laboratory presented his research into different energy options available to Los Alamos here.

    Our Scientists Agree

The alternative, Climate Change, is not pretty

A new computer model of accumulated carbon emissions predicts the likelihood of crossing several dangerous climate change thresholds.

    The World is Watching

    It is Time to Change

This U.N. report warns that dire impacts from climate change will arrive sooner than many expected and why every ton of emissions reductions can make a difference.

    But I'm just one person...

    It all starts with You.

There is vast opportunity despite the disturbing realities, that we can still turn back the clock. But YOU need to do something. Get involved!
